Free Eye Camp - 2017
Home of Service has been conducting free cataract operations for poor senior citizen from Varanasi and rural areas every year in the month of January-February for last 7 years. This year in 2017 the FREE EYE OPERATION CAMP was held from 23rd January 2017 to 16th Februry 2017.
The estimated total cost of one operation was Rs. 1,940/- per patient which covered Surgery, Lens, Medicines, Establishment Expenses and Staying arrangement & Food for patients and their attendants at our hospital for 2-3 days.
Total 639 (273 Male & 366 Female) were admitted. 613 were operated upon out of which 596 were IOL cases, 3 Plain Cataract cases, 12 Referred Cases, 1 Terigium Case & 1 Iris Repair Case.
Swami Vivekananda's Tithi Puja & Natinal Youth Day Celebrations
On 12th January 2017 (Natinal Youth Day) - Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa celebrated National Youth Day at four places namely Lalganj, Lohara, Rampur and Gaura with worship of Thakur-Maa-Swamiji and various cultural programmes followed by refreshment for all present. Balak, Kishore and Yuvak Sangha students happily celebrated and offered tribute to the 155th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda by Prayer, Bhava Geet, Short Play and Bhajans.
In the spirit of the ideal given by Swami Vivekananda the Home of Service has been doing the worship of God in Man "Narayan Puja". Narayan Puja at Hospital began at 9.00 am with worship and garlanding of "Nataraja Statue" in front of Hospital Gate and the statue of Swami Vivekananda nearby. Each patient was garlanded and given fruit offerings as "Narayana". The Brahmacharins and monks chanted "Narayan Suktam and Narayan Upanishad" from the Vedas throughout the 90 minutes puja done in each ward.
Special attraction was the tasteful decorations done by each ward staff including live representations from the life of Sri Ramakrishna, Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda, by children and staff.
From 12 noon food Prasad was distributed to all staff, their families, Doctors and their familes and other invitees totaling to around 3000 people.
On 26th January 2017 - Flag hoisting was done on the occasion of Republic Day at 8.30 a.m. on the terrace of the O.T. Building by Swami Gangadharanandaji Maharaj and attended by staff and monks.
Celebration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sister Nivedita
On 25th December 2016 A musical program was performed by Babaji Bob Kindler of Sarada Ramakrishna Vivekananda Association of United States of America in the Vivekananda Hall, which was attended by 250 people.
On 22nd January 2017 A musical program was performed by Sri Sugata Marjit in the Vivekananda Hall, which was attended by 200 people.
Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi's Tithi Puja Celebration
Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi's Tithi Puja was held on 20th December 2016 in Ramakrishna Advaita Ashrama and prasad was distributed in the Sevashrama.
Swachha Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Campaign)
Swachha Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Campaign) was organized on 18th December 2016 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m where 350 people participated, including Sadhus, Brahmacharins, Staffs, Inmates, Volunteers and Devotees. On 15th January 2017 300 people participated and on 26th February 2017 250 people participated in the same campaign.
Distribution of blankets to the poor & needy
Distribution of blankets were done on 11th December 2016 to 200 needy persons by Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math & Ramakrishna Mission, Sevashrama. On 12th January 2017 46 blankets distributed at Vill. Rosulpur, Dist. Mirzapur. On 1th January 2017 126 blankets distributed at Vill. Rampur, Kolna, Dist. Mirzapur.
Blanket were also distributed to the staffs of Ramakrishna Mission, Sevashrama
Christmas Eve Celebrations 2016
The Christmas Eve was celebrated on 24th December 2016 with Arti, Reading of Bible, Lecture on Life and Teachings of Christ (in Bengali & Hindi) and Carol Singing.
